Moses Mackay is the recipient of the 2023 Dame Malvina Major Opera Excellence Award. Born in New Zealand and of Samoan heritage, he trained at the Welsh International Academy of Voice under renowned tenor Dennis O’Neill.
His operatic roles include Ping (Turandot), Silvio (I Pagliacci), Alfio (Cavalleria Rusticana), Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Raimbaud (Le Comte Ory), Marcello (La Bohème), and Dulcamara (L’elisir d’amore). He has also performed major concert works, including Haydn’s Creation, Handel’s Messiah, and Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time.
